March 26, 2016

Today Saturday March 26, 2016 multiple members from the Red Knights Pa 2 were joined by other clubs and motorcyclist to spend the day putting smiles on sick children faces.

The Red Knights 2 teamed up with the Psycho Warrior Motorcycle Riding Club that started this tradition 12 years ago, when our Ride Captain Chris Wilkinson called them about info on their ride the Red Knights were asked to help expand their run in efforts to hit local hospitals in the Chester, Delaware, and other County's and start what would be called the Eastern Pa Bunny Run.

Ride Captain Wilkinson took this request and ran with it only three weeks before the run was scheduled. He contacted Chester County Hospital as well as Bryn Mawr Hospital and arranged for drop offs.

Today's ride started at the First West Chester Fire Company where coffee and donuts were provided to those participating, at 10am a pre-ride meeting was held were President Dowlin filled the group in on what today's ride would be about, during this meeting the President advised everyone that Ride Captain Wilkinson would not be joining us due to being hospitalized himself yesterday morning. President Dowlin wanted everyone to know that all the work for this ride was headed up by Wilkinson and in fact to thank him we would be make a surprise visit to him while at Chester County Hospital.

Riders loaded up shortly after 10 and headed to Chester County Hospital, once at the hospital they delivered stuffed Easter bunnies to the pediatric ward to some children that for a moment felt a whole lot better and had smile's on their faces, before leaving the group posed for a photo with the children.

After leaving the pediatric ward it was off to the West wing to visit Ride Captain Wilkinson, Chris was excited to see that his hard work had gather such a large group, one by one everyone followed in thanking him for set up the ride, President Dowlin then gave Chris is very own Easter Bunny, again the group posed for a photo before moving on to Bryn Mawr.

After a very nice ride through Chester and Delaware Counties the group arrived at Bryn Mawr.
Once again we made our way to the Pediatric ward were the nurse's were very surprised to see us, apparently they were not given a heads up from the supervisor however welcomed us with open arms.
Fortunately for the children, d five patients were released earlier this morning so they only had one patient on the ward witch one of the nurses escorted us to his room where we gave the child and his visiting brother a Easter bunny, the group then left plenty of extra stuffed bunnies in a crib for future unlucky children that came to the unit. The group then took photo op with the nursing staff and then were also joined by the one patient on the floor and his family for a second photo.

While the group was leaving one nurse pulled aside President Dowlin and handed him a pink bunny and said on your way out stop at room 51 there's a young couple in their that just welcomed a beautiful little girl into the world and she was sure they like a bunny, so on the way out he knocked at the door and introduced himself and congratulated the couple on their new arrival he explained what the group was doing and handed the father the pick bunny, the young couple was very thankful and mom said look you got your first Easter bunny, it was a great felling of pride for the President as the day's event was at that point put into prospective, he then wished the couple the best of luck and again congratulated them and left the couple to enjoy their baby girl. (no photo was asked for as the president just didn't want to overwhelm the young couple)

After leaving Bryn Mawr the group headed back to First West Chester Fire Company were a light lunch was awaiting the group, after lunch a small door prize raffle was done and the Red Knights members again thanked everyone for coming out and making the day a success.

President Dowlin would again like to Thank Ride Captain Chris Wilkinson for all his hard work setting up the ride, also R.P. Scott and Ellen Kramer who assisted Chris throughout the process.

Also a big Thank You to the Psycho Warrior Motorcycle Riding Club for allowing us to be part of and expand on what has been a great tradition.
