| On Saturday July 25, 2009 11 members and 2 guest of the Red Knights Pa2 meet at the Fox and Hound in King of Prussia around 9am to start their annual trip to Hazelton Pa. to support the Foundation 58. Foundation 58 is a nonprofit organization, established in memory of Hazleton City Deputy Fire Chief Gabriel A. Mhley, dedicated to providing financial assistance to Fire Fighters, Police Officers, and Emergency Medical Service Personnel who have been diagnosed with cancer. Justin Mhley son of Chief Gabriel started this foundation along with many members of the family. Over the years the foundation has held many fundraisers trying to raise money for this great cause, the annual 58 miles for a cause motorcycle run is just one of these events. The past three years the best event featured 35 motorcycles and approximately 50 people in attendance. Today's ride featured 60 motorcycles with 80-90 people in attendance. The 4th Annual 58 Miles for our Cause raised nearly $1,000 for the Gabriel A. Mhley Grant Program. The Red Knights put on around 300 miles on their bike to make this trip, all in all it was a wonderful day for riding with great scenery, and weather (no rain this year). A new addition for the ride this year was a poker run, the Red Knights made out well on this run taking 1st ( Pat Butler) and 2nd ( Wayne Thim) place out of the top three hands. The 50/50 drawing was won by Red Knight James Delaney for $87.00 which he handed back to the foundation for the cause. The Red Knights Pa Chapter 2 would like to thank Justin and his family for their continues dedication and support to the emergency services personnel in their time's of need. We also would like to thank you for the wonderful ride and generous hospitality throughout the day's events. " SEE YOU NEXT YEAR " |
