Roar to the Shore in the Wildwoods of New Jersey has become an annual event for many club members since the start of the chapter.

This year for the second year straight the event was threatened by bad weather, in 2008 hurricane Hanna moved through the area. This year forecasters were calling for heavy rains the better part of the weekend.

Club members made the way to the shore in different groups and times starting on Wednesday Night, by Thursday evening most club members arrived at the Landmark Motel. Thursday Night into Friday mother nature dropped 4.5 inches of rain with winds around 50 miles an hour. Friday morning the city of Wildwood went into a state of emergency with only one of the many bridges into town open and the crest of Wildwood under water. For the second year straight the venders in town for the event found themselves repairing their windblown tents in order to open for business.

Friday members spent most of the day checking out the 100's of venders with motorcycle stuff ranging from clothing, cleaning supplies, knickknacks, to any motorcycle part you could imagine. Many members then grabbed a bit to eat in one of the many food venders just outside the hotel and returned to the balconies of the rooms for cold beverages and to watch the crazy night life of Wildwood as hundreds of bikes move into the area to attend one of many clubs.

Saturday the knights split up and headed in different directions for some bike week traditions. One group headed to Capemay for a all you can eat clam bake, some awaited their family's to arrive to hang out for the day, and others stayed in town for the poker walk. The poker walk is a free event, participants registrar and are given a paper they then must go to the stops on the paper and get a stamp showing they where there, much like a poker run that motorcyclist do all the time. The difference in this poker walk is that the stops are 13 bars around town and you don't ride a motorcycle you walk for obvious reasons. The event starts at 11am and you have till 6pm to return to draw your `13 cards making the best 5 card hand you can, at 7pm the winner is announced on the main stage receiving $1,000 dollars. Just like Friday everyone then returned to the hotel for a night cap this evening members watched the biker babe contest on the main stage and some stunt guys show their talents flying high into the air do different tricks on dirt bikes.

All in all everyone had a great time again this year after Thursday night's rain the winds died down and although it remained overcast the whole weekend the temperature was not bad. Sunday everyone again packed up at different times and head for home many in time for the Eagles 38 to 10 whopping over Caroline.

Next year's date will be posted soon at www.roartotheshoreonline.com "SEE YOU THERE"
