| Saturday, October 11th was the 16th year for the Red Helmet Ride in Honor of the 107 Fallen Firefighters for 2013 to Be Honored at the National Memorial Weekend in Emmittsburg MD.
The day started with rain, however, by 11:00am it was just cold & damp. Arrived at the Battlefield Harley-Davidson in Gettysburg, PA where we had lunch and then met with President Tom Etzle, his wife and members of PA Chapter 15 of Harrisburg PA for the ride to Walkersville MD.
We arrived at Walkersville Volunteer Fire Co 11 and were met by Fire Chief Matt Staley and Tomy Baker, the head of The Red Helmet Ride since it Started. Tomy is a Charter Member of Maryland 1 (white hair). We met three members from IL Chapter 5 first day of no rain. The three men (cowboy hat) and with black rain gear are all from Massachusetts along with the man in the middle from Western MD it was just the thing to do to Honor the firefighters.
For the last three years they have let us wear our fire helmets in the parade if we choose to.

After the rain-cold-damp day it has been our custom to get a good hot meal (sorry NO Pot Roast) before going home.
