| Today Saturday April 15, 2017 multiple members from the Red Knights Pa 2 were joined by other clubs and motorcyclist to spend the day putting smiles on sick children faces.
This is the 2nd Annual Eastern Pa. Bunny Run held by the club. Like last year stops included Chester County Hospital, Bryn Mawr Hospital. This year we added a stop at the Ronald McDonald House in Wilmington Delaware.
Today's ride started at the First West Chester Fire Company where coffee and donuts were provided to those participating, at 10am a pre-ride meeting was held by President Wilkerson filled the group in on what today's ride would be about, the President told a few stories about why he wanted to start this run which is a personal one dating back to his childhood when he was stuck in hospital over Easter, the second story was one out of Chester County Hospital about a child that received one of our bunny’s last year and a few months later ended up back in hospital and told the nurse that she still has here bunny and loved it.
Riders loaded up shortly after 10 and headed to Chester County Hospital, once at the hospital they delivered stuffed Easter bunnies to the pediatric ward to some children that for a moment felt a whole lot better and had smiles on their faces. The club was advised the were a few kids in the emergency room so the club delivered a few bunnies to those children as well.
After a very nice ride through Chester and Delaware Counties the group arrived at Bryn Mawr. Once again, we made our way to the Pediatric ward fortunately for the children, five patients were released earlier this morning so they only had one patient on the ward witch one of the nurses escorted us to his room, the group then left plenty of extra stuffed bunnies in a crib for future unlucky children that came to the unit. The group then took photo op with the nursing staff and then were also joined by the one patient on the floor. Again, the club was advised of children in the emergency room so they again stop in and hand bunnies out there.
The group loaded up and headed toward Wilmington Delaware to the Ronald McDonald House. The club delivered bunnies to the doors of patients after delivering to all the patients bunnies were left on empty beds and bunnies were left for future patients as well. The group took some photo opps with Ronald McDonald himself out front.
After leaving Delaware the group headed back to First West Chester Fire Company were a light lunch was awaiting the group, after lunch a small door prize raffle was done and the Red Knights members again thanked everyone for coming out and making the day a success.
President Wilkerson would like to thank the following members Ellen Kramer, Bob Lotz, Frank Dowlin. In addition to the member he wants to thank Jamie Brennan, Emily and Jack AKA Peter Rabbit.
The Red Knights also would like to thank the following groups and organizations, without these people today's events would not have went as smoothly as it did.
