| On the evening of September 19, local first responders participated in an event to honor Vietnam veterans by escorting them home from the Delaware and Pennsylvania state line.
Five members from PA Station 2 joined members from PA Station 17 at West Chester Harley-Davidson. Together, they traveled to the rally point at the I-95 Pennsylvania Welcoming Center. The veterans were originally scheduled to arrive at 5 p.m., but a mechanical issue caused a delay, and they did not arrive until 7 p.m. Upon their arrival, the motorcycle escort led the veterans through Delaware County into Chester County, concluding the journey in West Chester.
During the escort, community members gathered along the streets, waving American flags. Fire departments along the route showed their support by setting up ladder arches, paying tribute to the veterans.
These men and women served the nation with bravery, yet many returned home without the recognition and gratitude they deserved. The Honor Flight event offers a chance to acknowledge their sacrifices and contributions.
To every Vietnam veteran, your courage, your sacrifice, and your service are seen and remembered. The community expresses deep appreciation for all you have given to the country. Welcome home.
