My daughter Kristen and I rode the new sidecar rig. Ray Wood joined us and we met up with the rest of the Red Knights at Gladwyn FC. We rode with the group down to Vine Street, where Ray and I broke off to drop our gifts off at CHOP. The road in front of the hospital is now one-way and we had to go around twice before we could get to the main entrance to drop off our toys and get a picture. The guy at the front entrance was very apologetic that they couldn't permit anyone to enter the hospital for fear of swine flu. Perhaps it's because of all the hogs. [I crack myself up] Then we headed down to Penn's Landing and ended up a hundred feet or so behind the rest of the Knights.
Attendance was very light with at least 50% fewer bikes than last year. I think it was the threat of rain, but who knows. Regardless, it was a good time and the ride from Penn's Landing to CHOP was okay for Ray and I -- at least until we pulled off at the Vine Street exit for the Art Museum. I assume it was okay for the rest of the guys, and we got back home before 1 p.m.
