| On Saturday October 4, 2008 five members of the club got together and headed for state college for a weekend retreat. The purpose of the trip was to go meet up with Ryan Maguire who is now going to Penn State majoring in History and get him away for some fun.
This weekend was parent's weekend at the college Ryan's father Joe set this trip up so he could spend some time with his son but also allowed anyone that wished to go join them in a good time.
Three bike's Joe, Mike and John left Radnor around 7am Saturday and met up with two others Doug and Frank on 322 in East Brandywine shortly after. The trip made its way west, riders stopped at Shady Maple for breakfast before continuing the 180 mile trip to state collage. The route chosen for the ride was straight up 322 through the mountains the riders hit a few rain storms that where a little unexpected on the ride. All week weather forecasters called for a beautiful weekend nevertheless riders hung in there and made it to state college at Ryan's dorm around 1pm.
After a little brake Ryan took us for a nice little tour of the campus (up hill) before making our way to the creamery. The creamery is an ice cream place that makes some out of this world ice cream. After a little ice cream the tour continued (down hill thank god) making a few stops at gift shops before stopping to eat and get a few drinks while watching the end of the Penn State football game the team was out of town. After a late lunch it was back to Ryan's dorm to pack him up and make the trip to the hotel, Because it was parents weekend all the hotels in the area were full so we had to ride 50 mile west of the collage to Altoona.
After we arrived at the hotel everyone gathered around the bar for a few drinks before taking a little swim and enjoying the hot tub. Around 9pm food was delivered back at the bar for a late dinner and more drinks before everyone called it a night around 11pm.
On Sunday riders awoke around 8am to find it was just a little foggy out, at breakfast they decided to hang out till the fog lifted. Riders got on the road around 11am and made the 50 mile ride back to the college to drop Ryan back to his dorm. After getting Ryan settled back in at his dorm riders left to make the trip back home, today the weather was much nicer and clear so riders made a few stops along the way for a few pictures before arriving back home around 6:30pm
The total trip was 480 miles; The Knights would like to thank the Maguire's for allowing us to be part of their family on parents week end. It safe to say everyone had a great time.
